Comparison Between iPhone 8 and iPhone 7

The unveiling event of the Apple’s new iPhone 8, 8 Plus and the premium iPhone X was a memorable event, and people are excited to get their hands on the latest piece of technology. However, the question is if you already have an iPhone 7 plus in India, should you be considering upgrading your phone to one of the newest versions?

In this article, we will find out if it is actually worth spending all the dough on the newest iPhone 8.

iPhone 7 vs iPhone 8: What is the difference?

The overall form-factor and size if the iPhone 8 is the same as iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S and 6. All the design related changes have mostly been stored for the iPhone X. But iPhone 8 with its rounded sides and the Touch ID button look exactly like its previous models. The most visible design change on iPhone 8 would be the glass back which has replaced the typical aluminium built. The idea behind its metal back is so the phone can implement wireless charging.

The IP67 water resistance that was introduced with iPhone 7 is still here in iPhone 8 just like the absence of headphone jack. In the box, you’ll get the Lightning cable 3.5mm dongle along with the Lightning EarPods.

The iPhone 7 Plus in India is still one of the fastest and the smoothest running phones in the market today with the A10 Fusion quad-core CPU, 2/3 GB RAM and the six-core GPU.  The iPhone 8 has the A11 Bionic chip, built using the same 10nm manufacturing process as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 that gives improved operational efficiency. According to Apple, the Bionic chip enables 25% faster performance than A10 and has the first ever Apple’s self-designed GPU. However, as a regular user, you wouldn’t feel much of a difference while browsing the internet or using an app.

If you have to look at the display, the iPhone 8 is much similar to iPhone 7.  Both the devices are available in Retina resolution, but it is the True Tone feature that sets the new iPhone 8 apart. The True Tone tech can alter the temperature of the display according to your surroundings, making it easier to view in tricky lighting conditions. Apart from that, there is the playback HDR/Dolby Vision that offers amazing viewing experience of videos on iPhone 8.

Apple has made very little changes about the camera in iPhone 8, and some even say that the pictures clicked with an iPhone 7 looks better. But iPhone 8's Portrait Lighting mode in beta gives professional lighting to your photographs.

The biggest drawback that iPhone 7 has right now over its successors is the battery life. The battery on iPhone 8 is smaller than 7 but with the optimizations in the new CPU has made it offer a better power back up. You can manage a day without charging your iPhone 8.
